Why do we have Sunday school?
Because Sunday service is not enough to build disciples up in a dynamic Biblical worldview. Effective discipleship involves actively and thoroughly interacting with the teachings of the Bible. This is what we are trying to do with Sunday school: Make disciples.
Sunday Worship Isn't EnoughSunday school gives us a relational setting where teacher and student can interact with the Bible and struggle through how it relates to our culture. Meeting in less formal settings, the early church probably had more of this type of interaction. Our modern form of Sunday school is an effective way for Christians to reflect Biblical ideas to one another, and grow in our understanding of God in our world. Sunday school is a very effective form of discipleship.
